Taking Care of Your Coffee Beans

Although it is best to use your coffee one-two weeks after being roasted, this ensures the best taste, sometime this is not possible.  When you store your coffee you want it to be placed in a air tight container.  When you loose the aroma of the coffee bean, you loose the flavor with it.  You will always want your container to be dark and/or stored in a dark dry place. When light or moisture hit?s the coffee, it causes a natural chemical reaction that you don?t want.  If the light comes in contact with the coffee, it will begin to loose its flavors.  If the moisture comes in contact with the coffee, the coffee can go bad, it may even cause mold.  Never put your coffee in the refrigerator.
Every time you open your container, you will loose flavor. Because of this it might be best to divide your coffee in portions.  By this I mean get a few containers and divide your coffee up in the containers and store them.
Freezing your coffee bean, is often disputed.  Some say as long as you store it in a airtight container your coffee will be fresh.  Others say by continuously taking the coffee in and out of the freezer, you cause it to start defrosting and when you put it back in the freezer, it can cause it to become freezer burnt.  I personally freeze my coffee and have yet to have a problem with freezing.

Coffee and Weight Loss

Coffee should help you loose weight, right?  Coffee is mostly water and comes from a natural cherry and then is roasted and not fried.  When you add milk, half and half to your cup, you receive vitamin A, D, E, and K from the milk fat portion. The only bad part of drinking coffee is the sugar that is added, because the sugar will turn into fat. So depending on the amount of sugar that you consume each day will help depend on your fat factor. For the record, there are so many different diets out there that this little bit of sugar probably won?t hurt, depending on the diet and how disciplined you are.

Coffee is one of those things that when you drink a cup, food is always associated with it.  When I think coffee, I think bagel, donuts, and pastry, which can be bad for you.  Its just like when you think of a movie, you think popcorn and candy.  Its one of those things that is always added to your mind when you want a cup, at least for me.  But if you are able to control yourself from these delicious foods, here are some facts about coffee that you may not have known.

Coffee reduces your appetite through the caffeine. Next time you get the munchies, you might want to think about coffee instead.  But there are side effects from coffee if too much is consumed, so make sure you keep them in mind. These include restlessness, nervousness, excitement, insomnia, flushing of the face, increased urination, gastrointestinal disturbance, muscle twitching, a rambling flow of thought and speech, irritability, irregular or rapid heart beat, and psychomotor agitation.

Although coffee doesn?t cause weight loss, if you do decide to try to loose weight, you can use coffee for your benefit.
